  1. This is a site-specific artwork, created and installed by a native artist, it’s existence acknowledges the importance of sacred places to our shared history and culture, its preservation is a matter of respect for diverse cultures and recognition that art stands for values, ideas and truth; DAM should not now marginalize it by planning a relocation.

    1. Dear Allan,
Thank you for your eloquent comment. Please share Edgar’s letter with colleagues and encourage them to write to the director of DAM and the the Denver Community Planning Board to voice objections to the dismantling and relocation of Wheel.
      With respect, James

  2. The dismantling and relocation of “Wheel” after sacred tribal ritual would be desecration of a very high order. Cheyenne Tribal Leader and International Artist, Edgar Heap Of Birds has created a great work of art and followed strictly held tribal traditions for this original art installation that tribes and people all over the world recognize and hold in high esteem. Any change or obstruction of this original work and installation must be avoided completely.

  3. Has anybody got an update on this typical white-settler vs indigenous Native American/big money vs Native American spiritual rights fiasco? Disturbing the artwork is so utterly demented, Trumpian.

    1. Last time I checked with Edgar about a year ago, things were moving forward with the relocation of Wheel to a place of honor, between the Denver Public Library and the Denver Art Museum. I have not bee in contact with him lately. I recommend contacting curator John Lukavic at Denver Art Museum for details and updates.
