On Monday September 15th, 2019. Kathie Manthorne and I traveled from Paris to Moret-sur-Loing, a charming medieval town on the banks of a pretty tributary of the nearby Seine, just south of Fontainbleau.

\nToward the end of her life the home of Eliza Greatorex. One of her daughters occupied the property until her death in 1942<\/p>\n

Some legwork, a meeting with Les Amis de Alfred Sisley & Les Amis de Moret arranged by une aeronaut de montgoflieres<\/em>, a few chance encounters, and a bit of Celtic luck, brought us to the former doorstep of the peripatetic Donegal native. <\/p>\n

Having tracked Eliza Pratt Greatorex’s path along the Hudson to Cragsmoor, to Pike’s Peak in Colorado, to Munich and Oberammergau, back to her birthplace in Ireland and so many of her haunts in New-York City and Paris, we finally zeroed in on her final (somewhat) permanent residence in Moret. <\/p>\n
