From March to June 2019, I followed the Rio Grande between John Dunn Bridge and Cochiti Reservoir, capturing views of the waterway and the terrain it traverses. The substrate for these paintings is a Moleskine watercolor sketchbook measuring 3.5 x 5.5 inches when closed, and 10.5 inches when open. The book was displayed in a virtine during the exhibition Reimagining New Mexico at Gerald Peters Gallery, Santa Fe New Mexico, from June 28 to August 3, 2019.
The book is house in a fine handmade Solander box produced by Mita Saldana of Against the Grain Bookbinders, Albuquerque, New Mexico. The title sheet, which was displayed inside the box lid, was produced by Thomas Park or Orion Graphics, Santa Fe. Below are journal-painting highlights.
