Oral History

In 2006 James was engaged by the Smithsonian Archives of American Art to collect an oral history from noted art-dealer John Weber. This experience led to other assignments requiring me to interview artists, dealers, scholars and collectors of prominence then operating in the worlds of art. I also conducted interviews for the Columbia Center for Oral History, INCITE, Frick Center for the History of Collecting, Newington-Cropsey Cultural Studies Center, the Rauschenberg Foundation, the South Carolina Center for Jewish History, and the Vermont Studio Center. These conversations could last from three to seven hours, depending on the stamina of the narrator, and their willingness to share so much of their time.
